Stealing a March...

It’s the start of March and supposedly a nudge towards Spring. Snow that looks like the backdrop of Doctor Zhivago belies that fact. But I have sunshine in my heart, thanks to a series of significant breakthroughs that occurred this week.

The news that I am to be making my comic illustrating debut with Titan Comics has been given much attention at the comics website Bleeding Cool.

My last mainstream comic job was doing finishes on a short story by Mark Buckingham for Vertigo. This job marks a significant breakthrough for me as an artist and is the first time an actor has drawn their own character in a comic!

The biggest breakthrough this week was getting the green light from my editor, Lizzie Kaye at Unbound for the full script of “Life Drawing. A Life Under Lights.”

Now for the drawing process to begin!

And the Universe continued to smile on me as I have confirmation that I am to play controversial politician and Tesco heiress, Lady Shirley Porter in a stage premiere of “Shirleymander” by Gregory Evans. This is a rare opportunity to play a meaty role in a non musical. The play was originally produced for radio starring Tracey-Ann Oberman and was well received. Given the The Playground theatre is within sight of Grenfell Tower, its themes of government corruption are timely.

On Oscar night Sunday I got my “gogglebox” moment, sitting on a sofa and commentating  on the glittering gaffs of erstwhile awards ceremonies on the Channel 5 show, “When Awards Shows Go Horribly Wrong.”

This coming week I’ll be head to the grindstone, producing rough thumbnail pages for my book, “Life Drawing. A Life Under Lights.” Reporting progress back here!

Ciao for now!
